Congratulations - JSAG Tykes !!

Our Tykes team (age 10 under) was entered for the first time this year and made a very impressive showing.

Ably Coached by Ceasar Morte and assistant Dale Mojares, the boys and girls of JSAG demonstrated cohesion and a fighting heart that endeared them all to the crowd.

Since the team was very new with only a handful of “veteran” players, no one expected them to go very far against the more battle-hardened teams from other cities.  But our Tykes proved them all wrong with their heads-up play and poise against their adversaries; they were indeed a very competitive team worthy of respect!!!

The first game was played against home team Glendale Heights .  It was a see-saw game for the entire 4 quarters and JSAG was ahead by 3 points during the last 4 minutes. They eventually lost by 6 points to the home team.

The second game was a real cliffhanger against Etobicoke and we lost by 1 point on a free-throw shot down the last stretch.  Emotions were high on that very upsetting loss and all the players and coaching staff were literally “in tears” after that game.

Veterans Alex Morte, Tristan Reyes and Jakey Vega carried the team with their leadership and experience, but it was not enough in the long run.  With their departure for the PeeWee team next year, we will have to embark on a massive rebuilding of the Tykes division if we are to field a competitive team for next year.
